“No matter where we live as adults, the landscape or cityscape in which we grew up stains us with its indelible ink, as if the umbilical cord by which we were tethered to life carried not only nutrient liquids but also minerals, seawater, soil, and sun.”

  1. Very nice, Barbara. Did you use a polarizing filter on this?

    • Thanks, Frank. No I don’t think I did. I’m a little lazy when it comes to using the polarizing filter, but I was able to draw out the detail using the Nik Color Efex Pro 4 Detail Extractor.

  2. Gorgeous. I have visited Block Island every summer for over ten years. Is this near Clayhead or is it Rodman’s Hollow? I want to be there…Now! Beautiful Image.

    • Thanks. This is the view from the top of Mohegan Bluffs.

      • I stumbled on your photo again while browsing Pinterest. We are going to be back in Block Island in a week. I’ve been right here on these bluffs, your photo is gorgeous…usually there are so many people…I like the beach in it’s pristine state.

      • Thanks! I love the Island in the summer, but like you my favorite time is in the off season when there are little to no people on the beaches. So serene then.
